mySQL Version 8.xx on MAMP 6.0 with phpMyAdmin

Hello, I would like to know if it is possible to use mySQL Version 8.xx. on MAMP 6.0 in connection with phpMyAdmin. I need a specific mySQL Function (RANK()) that is only available on mySQL Version 8.xx. It seems that I need to manually upgrade mySQL but how do I do that and how is it then also effective in phpMyAdmin?
