Not working on installation
Not working on installation
I have followed instructions but it does not appear that the Apache server is starting. I opted for my document root to be away from Applications/MAMP (the documentation stated I can change the path). The Webstart icon is greyed out.
When stopping servers (orange icon) and restarting again, I get the indication shown: Have I done something obviously wrong?

Re: Not working on installation
ian,
Perhaps this is a permissions issue. Just as a test, what happens if you put your document root in the Applications/MAMP folder?
This test would help determine if the installation is the problem or if it's something else. I'm not suggesting this as a permanent solution. I have my document root in another location on my hard drive which makes things for me much easier to manage.

Re: Not working on installation
Ok I have had no response to my original post (which was only made visible by a moderator a few hours ago).
- I tried deleting v7.0 and downloading v6.9. I got further but was unable to connect to the MySQL / database server via Wordpress initialisation software.
I tried upgrading to v7.0 again and things regressed to the previous condition.
I am not a developer - indeed I am hoping to use this local MAMP installation to help me learn. So far things have not got off to a good start.
I will be looking for a different solution unless someone is able to assist / advise.

My apologies for not seeing this a few mins ago and thank you for replying.
It doesn't seem to make a difference if I put my document in the Applications/MAMP folder. (In fact I am trying to set up a local instantiation of Wordpress by following this info (Method 2): https://www.hostinger.com/tutorials/ins ... y_on_macOS

Re: Not working on installation
After having a go with XAMPP - which was more successful and quicker until I encountered the need to set up FTP parameters and became confused further - I went on to the Wordpress.org portal and found a slight modification to Hostinger's instructions. This was around making the database password 'root' rather than leaving it blank. Making this change on my v6.9 installation of MAMP allowed me to proceed speedily with installation.
Alas, v7.0 still didn't work for me. Perhaps this can be looked into. MacBook Air (M1 Apple Silicon) running OS 13 Ventura
