MAMP Pro v7 Release Announcement

Post by mampsupportmod »

I heard MAMP & MAMP Pro will include MySQL v8 :D

No release on when this is coming, but likely this year.

Thank for you reply! When you expect that there will be release of MAMP PRO 7?

Any update here? Unable to run local versions of sites that were installed with MySQL 8 because of missing collation issues.

You need to make a statement.
MySQL 5.7 EOL was 2 years and 9 months ago and extended support ends in 3 months (Oct 31, 2023).

According to MAMP support, support for MySQL 8 is expected to be available later this year, around October/November 2023.

Can you please give an update on when MySQL 8 will be available for MAMP. Its now 2 years after first post here. And current MySQL version 5.6 reached EndOfLife 3 years ago feb 21

Looks like another trusted friend bites the dust.
Been using MAMP Pro since around 2012 or so, but the lack of support for the current mySQL/MariaDB versions has done it.
XAMMP to the rescue. Not as slick as MAMP, but it is up-to-date.

Using Mamp Pro forever, sadly have to go with Xampp, not as easy, but up to date with libraries.

Back on June 18th, MAMP tech support (and I use that term generously) said "as we are at the final stage of MAMP PRO 7 release."

Based on their history I think we can all take their claim with a pound of salt.

After astonishingly poor messaging and responsiveness by the developers for over two years, MAMP Pro 7 is finally here, and it includes support for MySQL 8. I may be the only customer who hasn't yet defected, but I'm going to give the upgrade a try. If anyone else has already done so and has a review to offer, I'd sure appreciate hearing about it.
