Could be a bug. In earlier versions this was a bug but I'm not on the latest version to confirm the behavior. Please let us know if they acknowledge this though

So as a test did you try port 80 and point your host to your local disk? Also, do you actually have a .htaccess file where it's looking? I don't know if wordpress creates it by default, usually you have to rename it to .htaccess after you want to change things.

Well what are you trying to do? I assume create a new website. Is this MAMP or MAMP Pro? I would create a new host and do what you have to do.

I'm on a Mac and I've recently set up a website with Mamp Pro using a Let's Encrypt certificate. It works fine currently, but from what you say when the certificate is renewed I will need to give the privacy.pem file access for my user account after each renewal. I wonder did you manage to get this...
