Hi, What web hosts are you guys running that work with MAMP pro's wp import export feature? I need a plan that will run between 10 and 20 sites.

I've been with Media Temple Grid Service for like 8 years. However I can't avail of MAMP pro's wordpress import export feature because MT grid service currently runs mySQL 5.6 while MAMP pro requires 5.7 for the wp import export feature to work. Media temple, which has gone downhill since being bought by goDaddy, advised me to upgrade to a DV account. These start at 30/month for fairly limited disk space. It would be enough, but I don't think it would justify the cost.

Yeah I'm starting to think that is the only way to get the wp import export feature supported... the closest I could come to that is a VPN. I've tried all the main hosts and none of them support mySQL 5.7 on their shared packages. I can upgrade my media temple account to a VPN for an extra hundred dollars a year bringing my annual cost to 360. Dream Host offers slightly less ram(1GB) and slightly less storage for 15/month, which would actually lower my current annual hosting cost. I'm leaning toward that but am learly that I may not have the skills to configure my own server. What do you think?

Hey Kevin, this is a good question hopefully others can comment on. I can't, as I use my own hosting.

I will never go back to using a paid web host because of past experiences and not being "in-the-know" when issues were occurring bringing my sites down.
