  2. MAMP - Troubleshooting
  3. Tuesday, 09 June 2020

One of my students is using MAMP for a school project. He installed it and was able to create his databases last week, but today Apache is starting, but the MySQL server refuses to launch. He remembers his laptop updating to the latest release of Windows 10 over the weekend. I'm not sure if this is related, or just an unfortunate coincidence.

He has tried restarting the laptop and MAMP, removing and reinstalling the files, and the troubleshooting suggested online of removing log files from MAMP/DB/mysql. I've checked the log files and he is getting the following error:

"highest supported file format is barracuda."

Can anyone suggest next steps for getting it working again? He's not bothered about having to recreate the database if needed, but can't progress any further while it's broken.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, the errors they are getting trying to start MySQL may reveal something. Please post them?
